This week at Hog Roast Shifnal, we have a 100th birthday event that we are excited to tell you all about. Except, it isn’t actually a singular 100th birthday but rather a joint birthday for both a father and son equalling up to 100, as Mr Kidson celebrated his 70th birthday by joining forces with his son who also recently turned 30. For both to mark the centennial joint birthday celebration, they invited friends, family, and the catering of Hog Roast Shifnal to the fabulous Blymhill Village Hall.
We’re still counting as a hundredth birthday in our books – it just sounds more impressive to say you catered for a 100th birthday. But the reality of the joint birthday celebration was just as impressive as that little white lie, if not more so. 100 guests came out to Mr Kidson’s birthday event, and for making the journey each was treated to one of the very best summer dining experiences in all of catering – Hog Roast Shifnal’s gourmet barbecue menu.
This was just the thing for the event. We had a wonderful sunny day here in Blymhill with temperatures again on the up. Though September is now in sight, the summer is still very much here, and so that means the very best of summer barbecues are still on the cards for at least a few weeks more. Each summer, a barbecue is a must. At Hog Roast Shifnal we provide our very own take on the British summertime favourite, delivering unique additions to the classic BBQ menu along with gourmet burgers and sausages for a more classic taste with a distinctly Hog Roast Shifnal twist.
The Kidson birthday boys requested a bespoke menu with our gourmet barbecue as the base. That meant the final menu looked as follows: Cajun spiced chicken thighs, pulled pork made from our signature hog roast, pulled quarter of minted lamb, Thai spiced chicken kebabs, gourmet sausages, and a mixed selection of regular and sweet potato fries. This could probably be best described as a fusion of our barbecue with our southern slow roast – meaning the order of the day was for comfort dining with plenty of meaty flavour!
