The pressure was on last weekend for the Hog Roast Telford team when they were hired by Lily to cater for a trucking event that stretched over two days. Not ones to shy away from a challenge, the crew – headed by catering managers Dave and Joe – threw themselves into preparing the mouth-wateringly delicious menu for Convoy in the Park’s third year running – A.K.A. the country’s largest annual family-friendly event for trucking enthusiasts which this year was co-hosted by Mertrux – Mercedes Benz.
After discussing our wide variety options with the Hog Roast Telford team, Lily opted for our famous classic hog roast menu with a couple of different vegetarian and vegan options to satisfy those following meat-free diets. With catering plans in the reliable hands of Dave and Joe, Lily was relieved that she had one less thing to worry about in the run-up to the big day.
For the entire weekend, the typically bare Donington Park was transformed into a literal funfair with plenty of activities on the go for the whole family to enjoy. From nail-biting truck racing and stunt shows which included the legendary caravan smash and a Greatest Showman inspired circus; to live music featuring headlining tribute acts U2 and Queen who brought both evenings to a close, the guests certainly weren’t short of things to do at this event!
In the midst of all the fun, the Hog Roast Telford team worked tirelessly each afternoon under the protection of their gazebos to bring our traditional hog roast menu to life for the 100 hungry guests. With tantalizing scents of slow-roasted pig, crispy crackling, locally sourced free-range chicken with stuffing and homemade onion gravy and BBQ 100% beef handmade burgers – it’s no wonder this menu has remained a firm favourite among our clients! In addition to the succulent meats which were plated up on our eco-friendly wooden crockery, guests were also served crunchy coleslaw, colourful mixed salads, gluten-free rolls and for vegetarians and vegans there was the option of grilled vegetable or grilled vegetable and haloumi skewers which went down a treat.
We don’t mean to toot our own horn (pun most definitely intended!) but the delicious grub was definitely a highlight of the event for guests who couldn’t help but come back for more.
