Did you know that the 1st of May, also known as May Day, has been a source of celebration for over 2,000 years now? Started by Romans celebrating the Festival of Flora (the goddess of flowers and fruit) and later picked up by the Celts in the 18th century, this special day marks the halfway point between spring and summer. The more you know, eh?
Now, I know that you’re probably thinking, ”What has any of this got to do with hog roasts?”, right? Don’t worry – we’re getting there! You see, while very few traditions from back then have carried on into the modern age, there is one thing about May Day that we can all appreciate – the long weekend! Yep, it’s thanks to this ancient festival that we all get to enjoy having another bank holiday break on our calendars – and if you ask us, there’s no better way to spend such occasions than being surrounded by some great company and even better food!
Being the go-to mobile hog roasting service in the vicinity, Hog Roast Broseley always finds ourselves incredibly busy when it comes to bank holidays, and this month’s weekend respite was no different. We had clients approaching us from all sides, looking for one of our famous mouth-watering spit roasts or BBQ feasts to enjoy with their loved ones.
Outdoor meetings were still limited to just 6 people at this point, so most of our bookings were for Gourmet Deliveries, which meant our catering team had lots of drop-offs to handle over the four-day time frame. Among the dozens of orders, we received was a booking for a tasty BBQ spread, which came from one of our regulars, Cameron.
Having invited a handful of his family members over for a lovely afternoon in the back garden, he approached Hog Roast Broseley looking for a fitting feast, and as usual, he was impressed with the results!
From the handmade meaty beef burgers to our chef’s own juicy pork sausages and salad sides, everything our team created went down a treat among the intimate party, who has since left a glowing review of our services!
