The sun was splitting the sky, and the temperatures were soaring last month when Hog Roast Kington attended Portfield School’s annual staff welfare day!
This spectacular event had been planned and organised by our client, Ellie, who had come to us in the lead-up to the occasion in the hopes of finding a tasty and inclusive menu to feed all 130 employees who work incredibly hard to create a safe, happy and supportive learning environment for children with special needs.
The aim of the function was to give a little bit back to those who give their all, all year round. And after discussing the list of menu options and dining solutions we have on offer with our talented catering managers, Dave and Joe, the client decided that our Classic Hog Roast Menu would be the ideal fit for the laid-back celebration style she had in mind.
So, on the day of the event, Dave and Joe led the rest of the Hog Roast Kington team to Portfield School, where they spent the entire morning working on the show-stopping feast, which centred around our signature slow-roasted pig with beautifully crisp crackling, irresistible homemade savoury sage and onion stuffing and our sweet and punchy applesauce.
In addition to the hog roast, our crew also made sure to prepare a large batch of grilled vegetable and halloumi kebabs for the non-meat-eating guests, as well as a collection of tasty sides, including fresh green leaf salad and gourmet coleslaw, tomato and mozzarella salad, and a mix of sweet potato and standard fries.
With lots of mouth-watering food to go around and plenty of variety on offer (which allowed the guests to explore a wealth of different flavour combinations), the Portfield School employees were free to help themselves to extra portions as the event went on. And with how delicious Hog Roast Kington’s cooking is, nearly everyone took us up on that offer – and some even returned for thirds!
