Hog Roast Dyffryn Ardudwy had the chance to visit the breath taking Cors y Gedol Hall recently after being hired by Fiona to cater for her husband’s 40th birthday celebrations. If you’ve yet to see this spectacular, 16th-century Elizabethan-era manor house for yourself, well, then let’s just say that words don’t do it justice!
Though the Hog Roast Dyffryn Ardudwy team are fortunate enough to live close by to this neolithic site, the grandeur never fails to leave us scraping our jaws off the floor. From the perfectly preserved mansion to its views over Snowdonia, this is easily one of the country’s greatest landmarks. So when Fiona revealed to us that the party was taking place here, we knew right away that it was going to be an unforgettable night.
With the house sleeping up to 14 people, Fiona had invited 9 guests to attend the party, and, eager to treat every one of them to a mouth-watering meal, she had asked Hog Roast Dyffryn Ardudwy to serve our Alfresco Menu.
Wanting to make sure there was something available that was to all of her guests’ liking, Fiona had asked us to customise the menu ever so slightly. Instead of a single main course option, she had wanted us to serve our usual hog roast with all the frills, a chicken dish and a meat-free option of grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers.
Our catering manager, Joe, was more than happy to make these adjustments for Fiona, and on the night of the party, he and the Hog Roast Dyffryn Ardudwy rustled up a sensational feast that was half pork, half chicken. With it being our Alfresco Menu, they also assembled antipasti platters, which featured a variety of cold-cut meats, cheeses, crusty breads, olives, sun-dried tomatoes and a selection of dressings.
When the dinner bell rang at 7 pm, the guests could hardly wait to dig in! As the birthday boy, Fiona’s husband was the first to receive a full plate, but Hog Roast Dyffryn Ardudwy made sure the other guests followed soon after. The group could hardly believe how succulent and tender the meat was, and they loved being able to play around with different flavours by packing as much as they could onto the gluten-free rolls available.
