Hog Roast Shawbury Celebrating A Milestone 90th!

It’s not every day that you turn 90, is it?

It was Joyce’s big day last week and her family wanted to throw her a party to celebrate.  Joyce was keen to celebrate with her family, but she did not want a big fuss and she didn’t want to go out to a restaurant. The family decided to hold a celebratory lunch at her daughter, Elaine’s house as she has a large garden. There were sixty guests in all. Hog Roast Shawbury were asked to do the catering as Elaine had sampled our delights at a previous event and had really enjoyed the food there.

Hog Roast ShawburyOn the big day Hog Roast Shawbury arrived early to set up and prepare the food.  The meat takes around six hours to cook and while that was slowly being roasted the chefs prepared the accompanying salads, vegetables and dessert.

The guests started to arrive about 12pm and they enjoyed drinks on the terrace while breathing in the delightful aroma of cooking meat. Once the meal was ready, they were able to tuck into the sizzling spit roast pig with crispy crackling.  In addition to this they were also served with crusty rolls, fresh crisp salads and warm new potatoes in herb butter. For dessert Joyce and her family enjoyed her all-time favourite dessert of fruity summer pudding accompanied by fresh cream.

Joyce told us that she had a marvellous day with all her family, who had come from far and wide to be with her on her birthday.  She said that she had enjoyed some of the best food she had ever eaten. Hog Roast Shawbury thought that was a great compliment coming from a lady of that age who must have eaten many meals in her lifetime.

Elaine was very pleased that we cleaned up quickly and discreetly with no disruption to the guests.  She had not wanted worry about the catering or be left with the clearing up herself after such a wonderful day.
