Well it is certainly not every day that we here at Hog Roast Shawbury get called out to a royal air base, but when RAF Shawbury came calling we simply could not resist the chance to provide some fine dining and top end catering to our royal air force. Carole told us there would be around 180 guests in attendance, all looking for the best in roast dining. We told her she’s come to the right place then, Hog Roast Shawbury has the means to fuel an entire army if need be!
When you have 180 guests on an air base needing fed what do you do? Well our catering manager Joe’s solution suggested that it would take about 3 pigs roasted to perfection to get the job done. The RAF might well have some technical prowess and a skillset so entirely unique and high-end, but they’re not the only ones that know how to put on a bit of a show. The best of the best in hog roast engineering with our Hogmaster roasting machines means we can get 3 pigs cooking up all at once in a fine display of fiery, golden roast brilliance.
Determined to show the RAF what Hog Roast Shawbury is capable of, Joe and the Hog Roast Shawbury team pulled out all the stops, and with the quiet satisfaction of all 180 guests enjoying their meals we think we managed just that. Along with our 3 perfectly roasted pigs, cooked in the traditional spit roast style right on the airbase (an unknow bucket list item for some in the team!), the party of 180 also enjoyed an accompaniment of our fresh apple sauce to go along with their pork, along with our homemade sage and onion stuffing, the classic golden crackling needed with hog roast, and a large mixture of chips and gluten free rolls. For the veggies in the RAF we instead offered our brilliant BBQ pulled jackfruit which is just as good as the pulled pork itself when Joe prepares it!
We don’t think we’re quite cut out for taking to the skies – we’ll leave that to the extremely trained royal air force pilots – but if the British RAF ever need great dining again we’re sure they know who to call now with Hog Roast Shawbury!
