Turning the big five-0 is one of the most important milestones in a person’s life, and so, we think you’ll agree with us when we say that it should be celebrated in style. Balloons, cake, banners, good company and great-tasting food – the whole shebang! Which brings us to the most recent birthday booking that the Hog Roast Albrighton team were tasked with catering for.
Ahead of her husband Gus’s 50th birthday last weekend, our latest client, Angela, had decided to organise a fantastic evening of fun for the birthday boy. And in honour of the special occasion, she had asked Hog Roast Albrighton’s catering double act, Dave and his son-in-law Joe to serve up our lip-smacking Classic Hog Roast feast, from our selection of set menus to a group of 30 guests.
As one of our entry-level menus, this traditional hog roast spread is insanely affordable, which was music to Angela’s ears when Dave revealed the entire cost of the feast. She was both over the moon and shocked by how fair the prices of our catering plans are, and with a little more room in her budget for something extra, she went on to ask if we could include a dessert for after the main meal. You already know that we said yes!
On the day of the party, Gus was still none the wiser about the big treat he was in for. So, that afternoon, Angela had arranged for him to be out of the house for a few hours, which afforded Dave and Joe just enough time to speedily prepare a tastebud-tingling feast of juicy pulled pork, which had been encased in a layer of perfectly executed crackling and topped off with a generous drizzle of homemade applesauce and a big scoop of sage and onion stuffing, before being crammed into gluten-free and wholemeal rolls and served with salad and potato sides. For dessert, the pair whipped up a bounty of individual dark chocolate tortes, with a rich filling and a light base.
When Gus arrived home, he was rendered speechless by a chant of ”happy birthday” from the guests, but after a mouthful from the gorgeous Hog Roast Albrighton buffet, he was soon back to his regular, if not slightly more animated, self!
